yipee.... this is indeed the space where we can post what we want to... i honestly always fancied myself as a book critic thrashing nonsensical books so FINALLY an opportunity to do so... thank u divvv....'muah' :-) :-) :-)
ReplyDeleteokk i first want to begin with one of my newest obsessions - twilight!!!!!
ReplyDeletei mean what with reading the twilight series over and over again and watching the movie a billion times to downloading the music and wallpapers ..... yeah u can call me obsessed..!!! but i want to give a fair review to it.. first of all it's strictly a romance novel so people who can't stand candy floss had better stay away from it . the book is written with incredible imagination . a passionate romance between a clumsy 'co-ordinately challenged' teenaged girl and an idealistic vampire . a series of 4 this saga entraps you into it's world . though after coming out of the twilight bewitchment u might just shake your head and ask yourself 'WHAT WAS THAT??'.. but what sets apart the twilight saga from the rest of the romance books is that it is not horribly gooey or mushy . it has the right amount of romance , adventure and of course a range of mystical characters like werewolves and vampires !!. i did feel though that the last book of the twilight series , breaking dawn was stretched quite a lot and made impossible to believe , i mean the vampire wars and the half human half vampire child went over my head . but a double thumbs up for the twilight saga , a must read for all teenage girls (andthis includes girls who claim they do not have an iota of romance in their blood coz i felt the same until i read this book !!!!).. kudos to stephanie meyer for coming up with a refreshing concept of romance :-)
hey sadu...nice one..well i have read twilight 2..i meant..i downloaded 4 books appxoximately 2000 pages in the net and eread it and i thouroughly enjoyed it except 4 the part of beingstuck 2 the chair and pc moniter 4 a week:)wh is not easyif the book dint keep me comletly engrossed..if u r a sucker like me 4 unadultrated love and love/friendship ...kuch kuch hota hai based theme...twilight is ur book...i esp loved the bickering between edward and jason whn thy r hloed in tent in the final book..kudos 2 stephanie meyers imaginATION..she caters 2 evrythng wat her readers want and more:))
ReplyDeleteI second you on that div... it is a must read for all the girls whether they are suckers to romance or not..!!.. and yes i liked the bickering part too..!!.. i know u didn't like the jason part a lot in new moon but when i read it again for the 2nd time (or maybe the 3rd or 4th time:-) ) i liked the easy effortless friendship between bella and jacob . she is not enamoured by him like she is with edward which makes it more realistic or easier to believe than her relationship with the gorgeous vampire !!
ReplyDeleteyeah was pretty apprehensive in second book...whn jacob was inroduced.firstly becoz edwward was not ther almost half the book,,and bellas sadness tears u apart...but once edward comes back into their livesi was much relaxed with jacob ....being around
ReplyDeletecoming soon will also be sophie kinsella books being dissected limb 2 limb:))
spoken like a true doctor :-)
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS Div - on starting this..should be very interesting..look forward to your Expert reviews!!

ReplyDeleteI can begin with the book the words of which still linger in my mind after almost 6 months of reading it...! Its Khaled Hosseini's - 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'.. I never used to read stories that were family dramas...or the No-Mystery ones... Always was into Robin cook, Sidney sheldon,John grisham,Agatha etc...u get it right.. never thot family stories, tragedies cud interest me... but recently started reading some solid reality ones... This book is about 2 women in Afghanistan during Taliban rule - Mariam and Laila,, their journey thru childhood to oldage...I thot it wud be harsh reality, boring tragedy... but no.. it is all about Hope in dispair, all about enduring what u get without surrendering... all about fighting against odds...Girl power u see...Donno how others wud find it but i found it very inspiring, the language is simple, the thoughts flow like oil on glass... smoothly without abruptness...both the women suffer, cant decide who suffers more...both dont evn think of giving up,finding solace in each other's company (they happen to be 'soutens'!)... There is a love story which makes u believe true love is stronger than time and tide...Totally, i think its a must read... it stays in mind for looong...after this i went to his first book 'The Kite runner' -again a masterpiece... Cant say which is better!
